Yutori Akitas believes in the preservation of the large, big-boned American Akita. The Japanese dogs have changed since the original Akita was imported to America, around the time of WWII. At this time, the differences represent two different breeds. Yutori Akitas do not contain import or blended lines in recent generations.

A little about Yutori

Show or pet puppies are available on occasion, by reservation. Historically, our retired show dogs spend the rest of their lives with us. They have earned it. It would take a very special home to persuade us to place a retired dog.

Please take a moment to read our philosophy page and look at our puppy questionnaire, also linked below. We interview prospective owners and feel that developing a good relationship with the new owners PRIOR to placement is a critical part of the process. Companion puppies are sold on limited registration and we require proof of spay or neuter.

Show quality puppies have a show contract requiring they be shown to their championship. IF you purchase a show quality puppy with no intent to show, it will be under a companion contract and we will require that it be spayed or neutered. Our puppies are only sold under a show or pet/companion contract. We do not sell dogs for "breeding only". Yutori is a member of the Akita Club of America (ACA) and follows their code of ethics.

We xray hips and elbows, and check patellas, and submit xrays to OFA at 2 years of age. We also CERF and thyroid test before breeding. Prospective show and pet owners will receive a written guarantee and will be asked to sign a contract agreeing to provide a lifetime home for their Yutori Akita.
